The Production Halls are used for the manufacture, assembly and testing of aircraft radar systems.
A complete upgrading of the facility provided a clean, light and spacious working environment and is capable of accommodating future change. A phased programme ensured production at the site was maintained throughout the upgrading. Two of the Halls now provide open plan assembly and testing areas, a third contains clean assembly facilities and the fourth, a test suite and a new staff canteen. The latter also serves the Directorate Building. Ongoing work includes the formation of additional Clean Rooms and the construction of a new Logistics Hub. Twenty two testing rooms, accessed from an open assembly area, were created for the Laser Systems Division. They achieved Class 7 cleanliness, to ISO 14644 -1. In addition, an open plan assembly and testing area has been constructed for the Navigation Systems Division, cleanliness in accordance with Class 8 of ISO 14644 -1. hurd rolland awards |
