Cardy Net House
Largo, Fife

Client: Liz and Mike Rolland

This award-winning conversion of a 19th-century, former net factory, on the shores of the Firth of Forth, to a private house was achieved using the original cast-iron structure and natural top-lighting to create the basis for a spacious, open living space surrounded by bedroom and bathroom accommodation.

Existing, south-facing brick gables were replaced by large, sliding doors, giving access onto a recessed terrace and providing expansive views across the Firth. Contemporary stainless steel and aluminium fittings have been used to contrast with the Victorian brick and cast-iron fabric to create a vibrant and exciting new home within this listed building.
