Pow Beck Valley Sports and Leisure Centre

Located within Whitehaven's Pow Beck Valley regeneration plan this new centre compliments
local sporting facilities to create a sporting centre of excellence and acts as a striking
focus within the proposed masterplan. The centre employs innovative structural design to overcome
the site's steep gradients to produce large terraced floor plates centred around a main entrance.
The centre accommodates two swimming pools and spectator seating, changing facilities, indoor and
outdoor tennis, a multi use sports hall, squash courts, fitness suite and ancillary accommodation
including meeting spaces, café and medical consulting area.
Hurd Rolland worked with a multi disciplinary team consisting of advising commercial agents,
leisure specialists and technical disciplines to advise on the feasibility of the venture.
