Hurd Rolland are part of a group of Architects working on the redevelopment of the former Edinburgh Royal Infirmary site. Foster and Partners’ masterplan for the site has envisaged the creation of a residential and business community. Hurd Rolland are involved in the conversion of two former Sidney Mitchell medical wards into a mixed-use retail, office and public concourse area linked to the cultural centre of the site. This project provides an opportunity to create an exciting blend of contemporary architecture and restoration. Most of the construction work will take place over a seven year period, When completed a new community will emerge, encompassing new homes, office spaces, speciality shops, restaurants and cafes.
