Of the many buildings re-modelled and restored in the Old Town by the Practice,
John Knox House is perhaps the most iconic. Projecting into the High Street the
building stands out as an intriguing mix of masonry structure and picturesque timber
projections and galleries typical of many 16th Century High Street Structures.
Our work included the pantiled re-roofing, reflecting the practice of the period and the re-modelling of the interior which involved removal of much of the later Victorian alterations to reveal previously unknown painted ceilings and medieval walls. These were restored and exposed as part of a “living” Museum. |
