Our first Charlotte Square job was appropriately enough Nos 1 and 2 for British Assets Trust.
These were occupied by Guardian Assurance until our Clients acquired the property in 1968.
Our brief was to restore the interior to much as it would have been in its early days but
to operate efficiently as modern offices with all necessary equipment including computer
system and a lift which was carefully and unobtrusively placed between the two main staircases
of the original buildings. The group is by Robert Adam, 1793-1805 and is Listed “A”.
We subsequently restored No. 4 Charlotte Square for Ivory & Sime in the same manner as Nos 1-2. The later Victorian alterations were removed and the buildings restored in the manner of the original Georgian interior with new M&E and IT installations.
