Hurd Rolland were the lead design and architectural consultants within the Private Sector Provider,
for the design, construction and financial facilities management of a new 16-court P.F.I. complex
located in the city centre on the Laganside Waterfront.
The accommodation included six Crown Courts, four County Courts and six Magistrates' Courts, with judicial, jury, Witness, Advocates, Administration, public and custody accommodation. The first court P.F.I. in Northern Ireland and the first to reach financial completion in the UK, the complex received recognition for the quality of its accommodation in the PFI 2000 awards and the RSUA Design Award Building of the Year 2002, which quoted: “This is a building which actually makes you feel good about Belfast’s future - open, honest and optimistic.”
