The project, a public private partnership, was for a new Civil Justice Centre containing 9 Courtrooms
plus ancillary court and staff accommodation. The lack of an existing, dominant architectural language in this area of Cambridge presented the opportunity to create a gateway building,
which clearly expresses its function and spatial hierarchy in terms of the materials used.
